Blending vérité intimacy with cinematic vistas, SPOKE follows Rudy, a firefighter whose decades of service etched invisible scars - of tragedy, courage, and silence. When occupational cancer struck, it wasn’t just his health that was tested, but his very identity. With nothing left to prove and everything left to give, Rudy sets off on a global cycling journey, confronting his past and inviting the world to ride alongside him.

In 2023 we invited Rudy's wife Susan and three children Eric, Adam, and Kelly to sit down for dinner and tell us their story.

We filmed with two cameras mounted on dollies which circled clockwise. The idea was to create a safe space for the family to connect and naturally open up about their lives. The delicious fondue helped...

In 2024 Rudy published his book "Pedals and Perseverance" which inspired the film.
